Dave Eyre - Feel The Magic / Dance, Dance, Dancing

I don't know very much about this record. I picked it up last week in a lot of about 150 decent 45's that I'm still processing through, but I figured it'd make a pretty good share for today as it's pretty darn obscure. It's got more of a poppy disco vibe, but the b-side intro has a nice drum break. Well, it would be nice, but sadly my copy is a little noisy on the intro. :/

Nancy Martin - Can't Believe

Another post, another day. I figured I'd keep with the decent disco theme and bring forth this Canadian 12". It's a nice synth driven track. I don't have much to say about it (I've been known to be a man of few words). Just listen to the damn thing. I'd post the B-side but it's a little on the scratchy side on my copy.

Edwin Birdsong - Gold Mine / Phiss-Phizz

Later that day (And several months later) I made a real post! And with this I launch the music blag section of this whole shindig, much in part due to certain other interested parties totally budging me to do this!
This is an amazing record with some amazing funky disco on here. Take into account that there's two different versions out there. The other being the DJ Reservice version with a special remix of the B-Side by Tee Scott and Claude Purvis which is a tad bit more difficult to find.
This version, however, I have at hand is convenient because it's 1:30AM and I already have it ripped and available.
Comments and requests are certainly welcome:

What is The Basement Labs?

"The Basement Labs is RECORDS.

I started digging crates with Employee #6817 almost a decade ago. . . I had been messing around with making tunes of my own, and I showed #6817 what I knew.

#6817 had already started cacheing records. . . Peter The Wolf, his Dad, had a pretty rad record collection, all originals, from when he was a teen. . .

So we started building on it.

I can't remember how I met #6817, or how we started hanging out in The Basement Labs. . . what I remember from those hazy days is COMPUTERS. . . LOTS and LOTS of Computers. The Basement Labs, for a LONG TIME, was the most wired residential building I had ever seen. We'd Doom Deathmatch for HOURS. And HOURS. AND HOURS. And once Wax got mixed into the equation, it became home. . .

I've lived in a couple different states, in a bunch of cities, and whenever I talk about 'home', more often than not, I'm talking about The Basement Labs.

So, The Basement Labs is a Place.

We love samples. . . Endtroducing was our White Album, our Dark Side of The Moon. . . our Blonde on Blonde, and shit. When we started making tunes, we made what we liked. . . so we started digging breaks for tracks. So, The Basement Labs is also a Sound. . . it was SUPER Lo-Fi because we were broke, and weird, cuz we like FUCKING WEIRD. Anything Goes.

I guess The Basement Labs is also a label. . . sort of. Nothing is really for sale. . . you can just DL the work that we've (mostly #6817) have done. ANYONE who's got something cool can have a release on The Basement Labs. . . just send it our way.

NOW, The Basement Labs is a Blog. #6817 sells records online to fuel his digs, and he comes across ALOT of really far-out sounds. So we're gonna share 'em. Do with 'em what you will. . . when we can find info on 'em, we'll post, and if we've got one in stock, we'll post a link. . .

I'm sure there's shit he'll want to add. .. The Basement Labs is #6817's baby. . . I'm just happy to babysit."
